The Sydney Latin American Film Festival is a volunteer-run, not for profit organisation, showcasing Latin American film and culture. This year, we're running a special program of cinema events across Sydney, Latin American Cinema and Song, with a view to returning to our traditional format in 2012.

‪Our philosophy is to donate net monies raised to community programs across Latin America. Last year that included programs in El Salvador, Argentina and Bolivia. This year proceeds of ticket sales will help with the operational costs associated with the festival itself, to make the Festival organisation more sustainable in the long run.

‪The Community Support Program is one of the drivers behind our unique festival – it motivates and inspires us, as it does for many of our supporters. So we'll be bringing it back next year, bigger and better.

Cine Barrio

Cine Barrio (Neighbourhood Cinema) is a program devised by SLAFF to present Latino film screenings and discussion at free and accessible venues in collaboration with various community groups & educational institutions across Sydney. In this way, SLAFF aims to ensure that the needs of the local community are being met by making these cultural events financially, geographically and socially accessible. We would like to acknowledge the support of the City of Sydney in the Cine Barrio Project.

Cine Lounge

The Festival presents all year round screenings at community centers and other easy accessible venues in both the City of Sydney and Western Sydney. At these fun & engaging evenings, the Festival screens a selection of films that have been shown at our previous Festivals for a small contribution of only $5-$8.

Volunteering

The Festival is driven by the hard work of a dedicated and passionate group of volunteers working year round and during the Festival itself to put on this amazing event.

Opportunities exist for you to volunteer at the Festival. To register your interest please email us
