Filmefobia

A startling insight into phobias that push the human limits

Kiko Goifman, 2008, 2009, Feature, Brazil, Germany, 80min, Portuguese with English subtitles

Filmefobia is the ‘making-of’ a fictitious documentary that explores fear and the limits of the human psyche in contemporary society. The filmmaker of the fictious documentary,Jean-Claude Bernardet, believes that the only authentic and truthful image is that of a human being in direct confrontation with his or her phobia. Arachnophobia, airplane phobia, thalassophobia (fear of the sea), snake phobia, blood phobia, aichmophobia (the fear of sharp or pointed objects), pigeon phobia, penetration phobia – even button phobia. The question at the very heart of this mock-making-of is whether the film itself is the product of a phobia.
