On Friday the 7th of August, the Sydney Latin American Film Festival will stage the first fundraising event leading up to our Festival in September at the spectacular Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre
Our line up of gifted musicians include:
VICTOR MONASTERIO gifted, Argentinean born musician, guitar player and composer takes his audiences on a soul stirring musical journey with his compellingly beautiful sounds. His music described as Argentinean Folk, is inspired by the likes of Don Atahualpa Yupanqui, Gustavo 'Cuchi' Leguizamon, Norte Potosi and Dick Gaughan.
BRAVO LINGÜISTA accompanied by DJ DreadJuan Bravo Lingüista is a popular rap artist from Fairfield, Sydney. In 2008, he released his debut album independently, his evocative raps are mostly in Spanish. The album features DJ's DreadJuan, Subway and Nino Brown, with local artist The Defiant in charge of the production. Throughout the years Redbak & DJ Dreadjuan have performed at various Hip Hop events around Sydney, as well as Community youth festivals, special functions and charity fundraisers.
FERNANDO ANDRES percussionist/ vocalist will bring together a musical ensemble with some of his favorite musician friends to play an irresistible Afro Uruguayan Candombe Jazz fusion. Jonathan Nanlohy on bass guitar, Melinda Perez lead guitar, Coco Loli rhythm guitar, Fernando Perez on tambor, Vanessa Andres on tambor/chico, Leo Rizzo tambor/ repique, Leo Santalucia tambor /piano and Stuart Henderson .

CUBAMA

Cubama is a peek into the lives of ordinary people in today’s Cuba and their response to Obama’s election as US president. What might this momentous change bring about on the relationship between the US and Cuba after the fifty –year-old revolution?
MAN VS METEORITE
Dir: Gabriel Balanovsky, 2009, Argentina / USA, 10 min, Spanish with English subtitles.
Guillermo Mendoza carries on the traditions taught to him by his gaucho grandfather and forges Damascus steel knives by hand. He has never met a metal he cannot work, until he receives a package and a challenge: to make a knife out of a meteorite.
ADAM y EVA
Dir: Laura Muñoz, 2007, Venezuela, 14min, Short, Spanish with English subtitles
This moving Venezuelan short shows you are never too old to find true love. Adán is a shy 76 years old man who has spent most of his life behind a bakery counter trying, without luck, to talk to the woman he loves. Will he pluck up the courage to break the ice?
