Pedro Rossi

Pedro was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1981. He holds degrees in Design (Visual Communication, Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro) and in Scriptwriting (Darcy Ribeiro School of Cinema). Between 2001 and 2006 he worked as a design, set design and art teacher at the Nós do Morro Theatre Group, where he also was responsible for the set design of the group’s production of the musicals “Gota d’Água” and “Noites do Vidigal”.

Most recently he wrote and directed “The Last Opium Den” (2010), a short film winner of the Riofilme award for the support of short film production. Pedro edited the 35mm feature “So Hard to Forget” (2010), by Malu De Martino, the feature “Toast” (2010), by Caví Borges and Sabrina Rosa, as well as the feature documentary “A Feast for Jorge” (2009), by Isabel Joffily and Rita Toledo. He directed and edited Channel Brazil’s “Portraits: Sandra Werneck” (2009) and worked as first assistant director on the feature “Love is All You Need” (2010) by Jorge Durán. Pedro’s current project as a director is the documentary short “The Fire of Luanda”.
The movie was shot in Angola, Africa, and was developed in a partnership between him and the theatre company Horizonte Njinga Mbande, one of Angola’s most popular groups. The project is currently being post-produced.
