This year the Cuban FIlm Institute (ICAIC) is celebrating 50 years of production since its inception along with the Cuban Revolution in 1959.
With a retrospective of Cuban Film spanning the last 50 years, the festival features classics of the international screen including Memories of Underdevelopment (1968), Fresa y Chocolate (1993), The Silly Age (2006) along with the documentary Now (1965) by Santiago Álvarez, which was considered the first video clip in history.
Cuban Poster Exhibition
Cuba has a strong tradition of employing some of the islands greatest artists to create posters for the release each new film. Australian audiences will be treated to an extraordinary selection of this artwork courtesy of the Cuban Film Institute, that illuminates the rich social and artistic history of the Cuban film industry.

The call for entries for the 4th Sydney Latin American Film Festival is NOW CLOSED.
Thank you to the many filmmakers who have submitted their works. We are currently viewing all submissions, and working on putting together an exciting, varied final selection.
Cine Barrio – Free Film Events Throughout 2009
2009 will witness the emergence of a new and regular film program across Sydney. Cine Barrio presents a diverse selection of Latin American Films from our Festival collection.

Thanks to support from the City of Sydney, Cine Barrio will be presenting this year a series of free film screenings across the City in diverse locations.
