The Picture House opened on 24th June. This exciting new space will now provide affordable and accessible quality film screening facilities for independent film festivals, filmmakers, community groups and general creative masterminds.

In its heydey, Marrickville had three Art Deco cinemas seating a total of 6,200 people, all since demolished. With capacity for over 350 people, we look forward to reviving local cinema in Marrickville and opening the doors of the Picture House for all to use!
About the Picture House project
With assistance from the Inner West Council via the Stronger Communities initiative, we have modified Gumbramorra Hall in the Addison Rd Community Centre for high quality film screenings. This exciting new space will now provide affordable and accessible quality film screening facilities for independent film festivals, filmmakers and community groups.
About the launch event
The Addison Road Picturehouse was launched as part of the 4th Pachamama Festival on Saturday 24 June. This special session opened with a smoking ceremony by local elder Aunty Jenny followed by the Australian premiere of the award-winning Mexican Indigenous film, Mara’akame’s Dream (Sueño de Mara’akame).
