Dyeing and Weaving with Nature for Kids
Saturday 24 June 2017 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm @ ADDISON RD COMMUNITY CENTRE, MARRICKVILLE
A children’s workshop (but parents also invited to join and get creative) which will create dyes from nature (such as spices like turmeric, pomegranate, avocado skin etc) and create colourful clothes.
This workshop invites young kids to participate in dying into natural fabrics or recycled pieces of clothes and weaving using elements from nature, and understanding that colours in nature can be used to make beautiful creations of their own. We’ll provide all the materials, but if you have some old shirts or any clothes that you would like to bring and experiment with, you are invited to do so. Please note that for the natural dyes to work effectively they fabrics need to be made of natural materials such as cotton, bamboo, linum, silk etc.. but you can also bring your old pair of jeans and we can test and try.
